More Busy Signals Until Mid-February

As you know, the Business Licensing Service (BLS) integrated into the Department of Revenue (DOR) just last summer. You may also know that January is the only month of the year when reporting due dates coincide for more than 300,000 monthly, quarterly, and annual taxpayers.

The end of January is very busy for the DOR call center and field offices, despite our efforts to get businesses to file early in the month. BLS and DOR taxpayer calls are answered with the same phone system. We have future plans to segregate BLS calls and DOR’s tax calls but could not do so before now.
Please tell callers that delays should end next week
Please help us reassure businesses that call your offices that busy signals and long delays will be resolved by the end of this week. Thank them for their patience. If their matter can wait, next week will be better. They may also email
bls@dor.wa.gov for assistance.

Power Outages and Report Recovery

Good morning, BLS Partners!

We have a few items to share with you today.

First, we hope those of you affected by last week’s weather are safe and that things are back to normal.

Second, we apologize for being unavailable to you for much of last week. Bad roads and power outages compelled us to close the office from Wednesday thru Friday.

Lastly, due to the power outage the BLS payment distribution (Account Financial Control Summary that was planned for release on Wednesday, 1/25 will be delayed until Friday, 1/27.  Please share this information with those in your office that use this report so they are aware of the delay.

BLS Partnership Services - Now Easier to Reach


The Business Licensing Service (BLS) Outreach unit has changed its name to Partnership Services.  Since our unit is responsible for outreach, city processes, system processes, training, and maintenance, we have reorganized under a more inclusive title that reflects the tasks we handle and the services we provide.

Other changes include a new team phone number and a new team Email address for Partnership Services customer service inquiries.  Your requests will be managed more efficiently and effectively within our team to ensure the best possible customer service response.
