The Upper Skagit Valley is powering up for better service to local businesses.
Today, the town of Concrete is the first of three towns along Highway 20 -- the picturesque North Cascades Highway -- to link up with the state's premier combined licensing solution.
Rivers near Concrete are the sites of several crucial hydroelectric dams, like the 293-foot Lower Baker Dam operated by Puget Sound Energy. Built 95 years ago, it provides electricity for many Washington state communities.
Dozens of Concrete businesses will immediately see the benefits enjoyed by their Lower Skagit Valley neighbors in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington. Next month, the nearby towns Lyman and Hamilton will complete the BLS partnership process joining more than 130 Washington communities using the popular service.
The 293-foot Lower Baker Dam was built in 1925 just a mile from Concrete city limits. |
