Ferndale businesses score big with new BLS partnership

The state Business Licensing Service (BLS) today welcomes the city of Ferndale as its final new partner in the month of June. Presently, 137 Washington state communities are BLS partners with eight more coming aboard next month.

Ferndale has grown up along the banks of the Nooksack River to become a thriving city of 15,000 between Bellingham and the Canadian Border.

Ferndale is the hometown of many successful football athletes and coaches, including former NCAA championship football coach Dennis Erickson and Super Bowl champion coach Doug Pederson, in addition to quarterback Jake Locker who threw for 3716 yards at Ferndale High School before starting for the University of Washington Huskies on his way to become a top-10 NFL draft pick.

Today, Ferndale is in the end zone to score for its commercial sector with streamlined registration and renewal processes for businesses. Whatcom County neighbor Lynden will join the one-stop service for business in July. Nearly 20,000 Whatcom County businesses have a local license issued by BLS.

Touchdown, Ferndale!

pioneers who settled along the Nooksack River in the late 1800s.
