Franklin County adds local licensing
BLS is pleased to welcome Franklin County on March 30 as its first county licensing partner, joining more than 200 other local government partners in the combined licensing partnership.
Franklin County is home to 100,000 residents and hundreds of registered businesses. With the seat of Pasco in the Tri-Cities area, the county is now connected with the same system that serves the many local licensing authorities throughout the Columbia Basin. The new partnership will help regional businesses save steps by linking to the common application and renewal processes used by other state and city licenses.
Palouse Falls at the eastern edge of Franklin County is one of Washington's most photographed natural sites. |
Other new local licensing partners include Asotin County, in the Palouse of southeast Washington, and the city of Newport, in northeast Washington on the Pend Oreille River, which will add their local licensing this spring.

Use Active status in ATLAS, not Renewed
ATLAS users should use the “Active” status when approving licenses. The “Renewed” status is an automated system setting triggered by a renewal filing and should not be used by city or agency staff.
Other statuses commonly used are “Pending”, also an automated setting used for new applications needing review, “On-hold” for account changes such as owner or location updates that require regulatory approval, and “Withdrawn” for licenses that are determined not needed for a business location or activity.
Sometimes applicants seek endorsements without knowing they’re not needed – such as a city license for a business not located in city limits.
If
you have questions about how to handle status updates, let us know at dorblspartner@dor.wa.gov. Training is
available online and webinars are scheduled several times each year.

Businesses should update email and location addresses
Starting in summer 2023, BLS will send electronic renewal notices to the email address on the license account instead of paper by US mail to the mailing address.
Users can view and update their business location email addresses in the My DOR system. Use the link at https://dor.wa.gov/manage-business/my-dor-help/renew-or-update-business-license#BLcontactinfo
Notifications are prominently posted on the license information pages of dor.wa.gov.

Two new licenses available in the My DOR system
Lawmakers approved bills to create two new license types now available in the My DOR application process.
The Transportation Network Company (TNC) registration is now available for ride-share organizations, such as Uber and Lyft. The $5,000 annual registration is not for drivers, but for the companies that provide the network platform used by the contract drivers.

Reminder: license fee deposit information is available on the State Treasurer's website here (pdf).
BLS adds additional ATLAS system information to the schedule in addition to the deposit information on the CityPartners.dor.wa.gov page in the 2023 Local Gov't deposit dates link.
