BLS Partner Post: April 2021 update

Unclaimed Property Service Update

The state’s Unclaimed Property Program successfully launched a system update this month. The major modernization effort offers users a more powerful system as they search for and claim funds.

The Unclaimed Property Program returns money and assets held by the state to the rightful owners. In 2020, Revenue returned $74 million to 175,510 individuals, businesses, and other organizations. The program has a balance of $1.4 billion in unclaimed funds. Users can search for their unclaimed property at claimyourcash.org.

Multi-factor authentication coming to My DOR

An important security upgrade to Revenue’s My DOR portal is set for Thursday, May 5.

The Secure Access Washington (SAW) gateway is adding multi-factor authentication, which may affect how you access the secure tax and licensing system, ATLAS.

My DOR users will be prompted to link a phone number to their secure account to use the multi-factor authentication when they update their My DOR or SAW profile.

The authentication is similar to features familiar on many online banking services. Customers who update profile names, email addresses, or phone numbers will be prompted to provide multi-factor authentication as an added layer of security.

Southwest Washington adds many BLS local partners

The Grays Harbor

More Southwest Washington cities are connecting commerce with Revenue’s popular licensing one-stop service. One of the newest Business Licensing Service partners is the town Cathlamet, the county seat of Wahkiakum County. By August, all of Washington’s incorporated communities in the Lower Columbia region will be connected by the biggest river in the Pacific Northwest – and also by BLS.

Several communities in Grays Harbor County are also sailing toward streamlined licensing. Neighbors Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, and Montesano will soon join new BLS partner Westport.

Flowing into the Grays Harbor saltwater is the Chehalis River that connects many Lewis County communities. Among those in the Chehalis River basin to join BLS are Pe Ell, Toledo, Vader, and Winlock. Winlock was first to join on April 22. All incorporated Lewis County communities will be active BLS partners in early 2022.

Revenue phases out toll-free numbers

Starting in May, customers calling Revenue's 1-800 numbers will be directed to a local number instead. Revenue's website and forms are updated to support the transition from the toll-free service.
Important: Your city or program should remove Revenue’s toll-free numbers from your websites, documents, and contacts lists. Replace them with a corresponding local phone number or web link.
